2014- 2021 Child Development Manager – Head Start and Early Head Start. WSESU Early Education Services. Brattleboro, VT
Major responsibilities include assuring state licensing and national accreditation, overseeing curriculum development, developmental screening/assessment, coordination and tracking of special education services, grant writing, staff recruitment and supervision, staff development, program assessment and ongoing strategic planning.

2007- 2014 Coordinator of Academic Services – Community College of Vermont
In this role, I coordinated the Northern Lights Career Development Center (Statewide), working closely with the Vermont Child Development Division, Vermont State Colleges, and the Vermont Agency of Education. Responsibilities included providing BFIS training and supporting statewide utilization, chairing the Instructor Registry Approval Panel and the Program Director Credential Committee, planning and coordinating course offerings, recruiting and supporting instructors, career advising, and participating on a variety of statewide professional development committees and other initiatives to support a strong early childhood workforce.

I provided training and consultation to schools in an effort to support both staff and family’s ability to meet children’s social and emotional needs.

My responsibilities included managing early childhood education, disabilities and mental health services for children and families in Head Start and Early Head Start.

2001-2003 Program Director - Brattleboro Centre for Children. Brattleboro, VT
I developed this licensed, center based early education program which continues to serve young children ages 6 weeks-5 years and their families. Responsibilities included designing program policies and procedures, grant writing, recruitment and admissions, staff development, collaborating with public schools, Head Start and other community agencies, and the daily program operations of this social/emotional based early childhood program.

2001-2003 Clinician – Infant-Child Guidance Project/CUPS. Brattleboro, VT
I provided mental health consultation to classroom teachers and supported them in recognizing and responding to children in need of additional social/emotional support. Services included classroom observations, child observations, behavior planning, partnering with parents, staff training, individual and group work with children.

1999-2001 Mental Health Specialist – HCS Head Start. Springfield, MA
I managed the mental health program for this large early childhood agency which serves high-risk children and families. I developed a program model that included prevention, identification, psycho-social assessment and intervention. I supervised a team of early childhood clinicians. Mental health services were implemented into the classroom and the home. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, my responsibilities included community assessment, proposal/grant writing, program planning, networking and collaboration with community agencies, mental health training and consultation within Head Start and the community.

1991-1998 Early Childhood Clinician - Child Guidance Clinic of Behavioral Health Network. Springfield, MA
I provided the following clinical services: assessment and diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, and training/consultation to families, Head Start and private/public schools.

1988-2001 Parent Education Instructor - Bay State Medical Center, Springfield MA
I designed and instructed classes in Childbirth Preparation, Prenatal and Postpartum Care, Infant Care, Child Development and Parenting. I also assisted couples during their childbirth experience.

1994-1999 Owner/Director - Woodland Acres Child Care. Hampden, MA
Responsibilities included maintaining the daily business operation and educational programming for this licensed family day care.

1991-1994 Developmental Educator - The Child Guidance Clinic of Behavioral Health Network. S Springfield, MA
I was a member of an Early Intervention Team, providing developmental screening and assessment, service planning, home visits, children’s play groups and parent education groups.

1982-1988 Social Worker/Program Coordinator - MSPCC. Holyoke, MA
I provided program development and training in family life education to local schools and community agencies. Responsibilities included proposal/grant writing, marketing and advertising, fundraising, and the supervision of Parent Aides/Educators.

I was responsible for meeting federal performance standards and managing the implementation of social services and parent involvement within thirteen Head Start classrooms.

I coordinated The Child and Family Mental Health Project, a pilot three year federal project implemented in 7 Head Start programs nationally. Preventive approaches to early childhood mental health were integrated into existing program areas and included working with children, parents and teachers.
