Engaging: I get bored easily with someone reading a powerpoint. While powerpoints are part of my instruction, I also weave in activities and opportunities to use what we have learned in workshops and classes. I also like to keep it light and breezy and humorous - teaching young children is enjoyable and I want to bring that joy and humor into my presentations and trainings. Useful: Information must be useful for people to apply in their everyday work with children, not heavyily laden with ideals that aren't practical. The ideal should be talked about, but then figure out how to pick short-term goals on your way to incorporating your new learning. Best Practices: The information relayed to attendees must reflect the best new information available to our field and be grounded in evidence-based practices. |
