Work Experience
At One Arts, my role is to spend time in classrooms collaborating with teachers and modeling approaches to supporting play and communication. I am very involved in creating trainings for staff around play, communication, emotional regulation, and neuro-inclusive practices in the classroom for children, teachers and parents. Since 2019, I've also had my own private practice in which I work with clients of all ages and profiles. I specialize in supporting non-speaking individuals who communicate using augmentative/alternative communication (AAC). I work directly with families and consult to schools. I started teaching workshops in 2020 through the VT Higher Ed Collaborative and have led several related to language development, and AAC evaluation and implementation. In 2024 I co-developed and co-taught "Understanding & Supporting Individual Learning Needs", a required course in VT-HEC's Neurodiversity & Inclusion Certificate. During 2023-24, I also co-led professional development workshops (not affiliated with VT-HEC) on the topics of play, communication, literacy for learners with complex needs, and AAC. These workshops were for educators working with students as young as 3. In the fall of 2024, I designed a 3 month training series for educators working with emergent readers and writers who are neurodivergent and have complex learning needs. | ||||||||||
