It is my honor to work as the director for the Burlington campus of ONE Arts Community school. I have dedicated my life to working with and supporting children and families and have worked hard to create inclusive, safe, and happy environments that welcome some of the most important members of our community, children. In my 12 years I have held almost every role in a school. I have been a substitute teacher, a classroom aid, a one on one support staff member, a home visitor, a teacher, and now a director. I have had the privilege of receiving both a masters and bachelors degree in early childhood special education, a specialization in trauma informed teaching, and most recently I am a part of the Snelling Institutes Early Childhood Leadership Institute. In my time in the field of early childhood education I have always chosen to work at schools with a focus on supporting children and families with a higher level of support needs. This has included new Americans, refugees, and asylum seekers, children with disabilities, families receiving income based government assistants, and children with unidentified developmental delays, or with exposure to potentially traumatic events. | |

Humor helps. We are all children at heart and keeping things playful and engage makes learning more approachable and applicable. It does not matter how smart you are or how much you know, for professional development to be helpful the things taught need to be able to be embedded into teachers routines! |
