I have trained all of our staff in the past year (both for after school and summer camp) in the following subjects: licensing, basic care/first aid, incident report-writing, active supervision, crisis intervention, and icebreakers/attention getters. I have also completed many trainings through Northern Lights over the past nearly four years of employment at Sara Holbrook.
has not received formal instruction in adult education or in the facilitation of learning for adults.

Work Experience

I have worked in the Sara Holbrook Elementary Program since June of 2020 and started my employment as staff. In this licensed program, I worked with elementary students in Burlington to plan and lead activities, actively supervise, manage behaviors, organize classrooms, create safe environments, and document incidents and behaviors. In February of 2023, I was promoted to Program Coordinator, where I have supported the Program Director in leading both after school and camps. I interview, hire, supervise, and train staff, schedule activities, events, and meetings, as well as work with staff, students, parents, schools, etc. to support student behaviors and manage escalated situations. I also worked as a Resident Advisor during my time as a student at UVM. As an RA, I was a community resource and event organizer for ~50 young adults. I also upheld policies and procedures, and would conduct regular health and safety checks for compliance. I regularly responded to emergency situations like: mental health crises, bias incidents, safety threats, etc. I held this role for about 2 years.
0-5 years instructing adults.

1. People's experiences, backgrounds, and identity influence the way they learn. Everyone shows up with biases and assumptions. It's important to meet everyone where they are at and have humility. We are all learning at our own pace.
2. Cooperation and engagement are vital to learning. The brain can recall and use information much easier once someone has participated in an activity and been evaluated in what they have learned.
3. Research and data are incredibly important to me. I want to incorporate relevant sources into the content I teach, and make these sources accessible to learners in an inviting way.
