Work Experience
9.25.15-Present Director, Suzy’s Little Peanuts Being the director at SLP I work with families and the staff in order to ensure the best possible care for the children. I make sure the staff is up to date on their professional development and maintaining their trainings that need to be done every year. I make sure that the staff and the program is in compliance with state licensing and regulations as well. I handle the enrollment for the year as well as making the staffing schedule to go with the children’s daily schedules. There is many more that I do in my role as the director. 6.30.14-9.25.15 Assistant Director, Suzy’s Little Peanuts When I became the assistant director at Suzy’s Little Peanuts I was also the preschool teacher. I was the preschool teacher in the morning to teach the curriculum and then I was the assistant director during the afternoon. Being the assistant director I would file paperwork, make the staffing schedule, handle enrollment, and help organize staff meetings and staff agendas. 6.30.14-6.14.15 Preschool Teacher, Suzy’s Little Peanuts Supervising children ensuring that they were safe and healthy was a big thing I did within the preschool room. I made individual goals for each child and then planned the curriculum keeping in mind the children’s goals. I planned for two learning groups and made sure that one of the learning groups was outside as it is important for them to discover and explore the outdoors. I also planned for an art project each day and made sure that sensory play was ready and available each day. 2.19.13-6.29.14 Floater, Suzy’s Little Peanuts Being the Floater I was in and out of each classroom while the teachers planned the curriculum. I would follow the activities they had for that day in each of the room. Sometimes I would do lunch and then eat lunch with the children sitting down as family style. I would supervise the children when in my care and make sure that they were safe. | ||||||||||

My professional philosophy is to nurture and educate children in a way that is developmentally age appropriate for each child. I believe that children need a sense of security, routine, and guidance in order to be successful. My job as a provider is to help support and guide the children as they grow and learn in the early childhood years. I am here to help them feel safe and secure in an environment that at first may be unfamiliar. With passing time it is my goal to make sure the child feels safe and secure with a sense of stability and consistent routine. Children learn a lot through play and social interaction between other children and adults. Teaching positive social skills is essential, especially in the early childhood years as they will get a sense of kindness, politeness, and responsibility. In order to make sure that we can instill these skills and growth in children, I need to make sure that the staff are trained properly and have the knowledge in early childhood education; to ensure the families that we are highly qualified professionals. I believe that in order to be successful as an individual, we all need to be successful together as a team. I believe that people are led by example. In order to be successful as a program, my leadership skills need to be top notch such as, being honest, compassionate, understanding, willing to listen, staying positive, and being professional at all times. All the good qualities within a leader, make for a great team and huge success. I will lead by example to the staff, mentor, supervise, and observe the staff in order to see where their strengths and weaknesses are and what areas they need to work on in order to be the best worker they can be and to reach their full potential. As they reach their great potential, I will stand back and just observe occasionally to make sure they are staying on track. I will supply each worker with a full job description in order to ensure that they understand what is expected of them and I will help guide them when they seek help. I will spend time and meet with them when necessary about observations and other areas when they need to be addressed. I will be available when necessary and be a resource for the staff to come to when seeking help and guidance. I expect them to be professional and honest at all times, be an advocate for all children, and learn to work with others. |
