Work Experience

Since 2007, I have been dedicated to facilitating reflective learning and professional development across childhood support practitioners. My particular area of experience is the UK-based field of Playwork, which is rooted in the adventure playground movement, locates children's right to play within a social justice framework, and can be applied in any setting. I have extensive firsthand experience of playwork in diverse programs, including work in communities experiencing extreme affluence, deprivation, 'disability', and violence. In 2010, I co-founded Pop-Up Adventure Play, an international non-profit which supports independent play-focused educators, designers and community organizers in creating more opportunities for play in schools, after school programs, public parks, hospitals and more. I work in VT and with communities internationally.
More than 15 years instructing adults.

Leadership
My instruction style is warm and welcoming, always seeking to meet people 'where they are' and develop strategies together to better serve the children and families we work with. Beginning from a place of respect and individualized encouragement allows students to retain ownership over learning, and models respectful interactions which they can apply professionally. Workshops are collaborative and experimental, enriched by a broad knowledge of theories to be discussed and applied together.
