Work Experience
Since 2007, I have been dedicated to facilitating reflective learning and professional development across childhood support practitioners. My particular area of experience is the UK-based field of Playwork, which is rooted in the adventure playground movement, locates children's right to play within a social justice framework, and can be applied in any setting. I have extensive firsthand experience of playwork in diverse programs, including work in communities experiencing extreme affluence, deprivation, 'disability', and violence. In 2010, I co-founded Pop-Up Adventure Play, an international non-profit which supports independent play-focused educators, designers and community organizers in creating more opportunities for play in schools, after school programs, public parks, hospitals and more. I work in VT and with communities internationally. | ||||||||||

My instruction style is warm and welcoming, always seeking to meet people 'where they are' and develop strategies together to better serve the children and families we work with. Beginning from a place of respect and individualized encouragement allows students to retain ownership over learning, and models respectful interactions which they can apply professionally. Workshops are collaborative and experimental, enriched by a broad knowledge of theories to be discussed and applied together. |
